The UVic Sailing Race Team competes in the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA), the governing body for University and College sailing in North America.
The team travells to regattas in Washington, Oregon, and BC most weekends, and also travells to University regattas in California, Hawaii, and other places in North America.
Housing and boats are provided by the host school, making University sailing the best way to compete and sail.
Membership on the team is open to all UVic undegrad students, and all students with sailing experience are encouraged to come down and join the team for a practice.
UVic is one of two schools in Canada that is a full member of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA), and the only school in Canada that sails year round, making UVic the only choice for Canadian sailors who want to take their sailing to the next level, or just be able get out on the water throughout the school year.
The race team is always looking for new members. If you are interested in joining, send us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Race Team is a great way to develop your sailing skills without spending much money, while meeting great people, and having fun.
Below is an interview with Ken Read from the ESPN broadcast of the 2008 ICSA National Championships. Ken does a great job explaing the benefits of competitive University sailing.
