The Advising Centre can help you with course selection for BA and BSc programs within the Faculties of Humanities, Science and Social Sciences, and Pre-Professional Studies, such as Medicine and Dentistry. Review the program outlines on this site first; if you still have questions concerning course selection, you can contact the Advising Centre at advising@uvic.ca or by calling 250-721-7567, extension 6.
Newly admitted first-year students can have their questions answered via email, over the telephone or by pre-booking an appointment with an adviser. In addition to our regular office hours, Academic Advisers are available in the Welcome Centre to meet with newly admitted students on Tuesdays between 3:00p.m. - 6:00p.m. and Wednesdays between 3:00p.m. - 7:00p.m. (May 14 through June 18) and Saturdays between 12:00 p.m. - 3:30p.m. (May 18 through September 21). Pre-booking is advised.
For current UVic students, appointments are booked in person and for the same day only. Please note that space is limited and you should arrive early. You can also access the Advising Centre website for answers to frequently asked questions.

As noted in the previous question, newly admitted students can speak with an advising assistant by calling 250-721-7567, extension 6. In addition, phone appointments can be made for students living out of town.

The Advising Centre cannot assist with timetabling and course registration; therefore, please check carefully for timetable conflicts. There are complete instructions on the web at www.uvic.ca/reg101.

Students in the Faculties of Humanities, Science and Social Sciences are not restricted in their course selection. You may enrol in courses from other faculties as long as you have satisfied the prerequisite(s) and the courses are not restricted to a specific program (eg Engineering).
