Programs
The Department of Sociology offers courses of study leading to the degrees of Master of Arts (MA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). At the Master's level, both thesis and non-thesis options are available. Doctoral studies in Sociology are designed to encourage students to develop competencies in more than one domain area and to emphasize the connections between core areas. The department's doctoral program has five disciplinary areas of concentration as well as an interdisciplinary option:
- Aging
- Gender
- Health
- Political sociology/social movements
- Social inequality
- Cultural, social and political thought (CSPT)
