This program is only offered subject to an adequate applicant pool and resources. There will be no new admissions for 2012 - 2013.
Usually, for all applicants, a B+ average (6.00 GPA in University of Victoria terms) for the last two years of university work is a minimum requirement for admission to the program. In addition to transcripts, letters of recommendation, personal statements, and application forms required for the application process, the SPP program may require students to take a qualifying course particularly if they lack a background in Canadian government and policy. Admission to Graduate Studies does not guarantee admission to SPP.
Early Application Deadline: December 1st
Application Deadline: February 15th
Please send all application materials to Graduate Admissions in one envelope. Ensure official transcripts and references are in sealed envelopes, and verified by the institution or referee.
Please complete the following SPP requirements as part of the application process. Please
forward these along with your application and assessment reports to Graduate Studies.
Applications
are due on February 15th of each year. Fullest consideration
will be given to those applications received by the deadline.
Eligibility for university fellowships and graduate awards requires that complete
applications be received by that date. Late applications
received after February 15th will be considered on a space
availability basis.
The admission process involves the following steps:
1. A review by the admission officer in the Faculty of Graduate Studies to ensure that your GPA meets the requirements of the Faculty and that your application is complete, i.e., all required documents and letters of reference have been submitted.
2. A review by the Admissions Committee of Studies in Policy and Practice. Decisions are made in the Spring and applicants are informed of the decision as soon as possible.
The Faculty of Graduate Studies receives literally thousands of applications. You should try to keep track of the completion of your file. It is particularly important that you make sure that your referees submit their letters on time.
