Dr. Barbara Herringer (BA, University of Alberta; BSW/MSW, UBC; PhD, University of Victoria) is Dean of Health & Human Services at Camosun College and leads a dynamic School that includes dental programs, continuing care, a BSc in Nursing (in collaboration with UVic) and a range of human services programs, as well as a post-degree diploma in Interprofessional Mental Health & Addictions. She was Chair of the Social Work Program as well as an associate faculty member in both the Community Health Graduate Program and the First Nation Studies Program. Before arriving at Camosun as Associate Dean in 2003, she was Director of the Education Services Branch at Ministry of Children and Family Development in BC. Barbara's community-based research has focussed on various aspects of health with marginalized groups (HIV, northern women, poverty, etc.). She is currently involved in two province-wide health-related research projects, one on the integration of practice and education through a HealthCanada funded interprofessional education initiative called In-BC and the other, the Health and Learning Knowledge Centre, funded by the Canadian Council on Learning, where she is a scientific advisor. Barbara is the steering committee Chair of Camosun's Centre for Oriented Research and Innovation, and a member of the Association of  Canadian Community College’s National Research Advisory Committee. She chairs the BC Health Sciences Deans & Directors committee, and is an adjunct professor at University of Victoria.
