ALUMNI PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

By Betty Clazie (BEd ‘73)

It seems impossible that I’m in my second and final year as president of the University of Victoria Alumni Association. President David Strong is also in his final year as president of the University of Victoria. It has been a pleasure to work with Dr. Strong who has been a tremendous supporter of our association.

The university has begun the search for a new president, and the UVic board of governors invited the Alumni Association to provide a representative on the selection committee. This is a significant move towards alumni having a greater voice in the university.

Our planning retreat at the end of August was a great success and we’re looking forward to an exciting year. Currently, we are busy redrafting the Alumni Association strategic plan and looking into new ways to better serve and communicate with alumni. I’m very proud to lead such a strong and vibrant association, one showing leadership among alumni associations in Canada, especially in serving its alumni through web technology.

I would like to thank everyone who has made my first year as president so enjoyable and successful. I look forward to this coming year and all the opportunities to keep in touch with and represent fellow alumni.
