Bike Kitchen Under Construction
The UVic Bike Kitchen is under construction
and should be open before the 2010 summer session.
This self-service bike repair station will allow cyclists to
pump tires and do basic bike maintenance right on campus.
It is located in the covered bike parking area between the
Student Union Building and the Bookstore bus loop.

William says: "Replace your worn out chain to avoid gear damage."
A simple check will warn you when it is time for a new chain.
If you don't have a chain gauge, measure the chain against a ruler.
If 24 links are at 12 1/16 inches consider replacing.
If at 12 1/8 inches, definitely replace.
If even longer, it may be too late and the new chain will
skip on the worn gears, meaning more expensive replacement
of freewheel and/or crankset.

Is there an abandoned bicycle cluttering your favourite parking rack?
If the bike is obviously derelict, please use our
feedback page
to tell us rack location, bicycle description,
and approximately how long it has been there.
If the bike has been in the same place for a long time,
there are parts missing, the chain is rusty and derailed,
or the tires are flat, then the bike needs to be reported.
