Rental
Managment of locker rental is handled by
SUBtext in the Student Union Building.
You can visit the SUBtext store to arrange rental of a locker.
Phone (250) 721-8810 or email subtext@uvss.uvic.ca for locker information.
With more lockers in the pool, it is more likely that one will be available when you need it.
September is when the most demand is expected and you may have to put your name on a waiting list then.
The best time to try is the beginning of May.
Ask about the swap list if you are unhappy about the location of your locker.
Locker rental for students is $32 per four month term (fall, spring, or summer).
For faculty and staff, the cost per term is $40.
Check with the SUBText staff for the latest rental costs.
Starting in January 2010, a management fee of $5 per rental period (up to one year) will be charged.
Each time you renew your rental you pay the management fee, so it is in your interest
to commit to the longest period practical.
A key deposit of $25 is required, refundable when the key is returned.
If the key is lost, this deposit will be used to produce a replacement key and another
$25 deposit will be required for the new key.
Manufacturers
Information about the first 24 lockers ( SUB, Elliott, Sedgewick) may be obtained at the
manufacturer's website
(see the SOME CURRENT INSTALLATIONS section for lockers like these outside a UVic residence building).
Lockers purchased more recently were supplied by Swanson Sheet Metal.
The most recent twenty eight lockers were supplied by Urban Racks, a Vancouver BC manufacturer.
Security
The first 24 lockers use circular keys. The manufacturer of these lockers says that
the "design of their circular key locking cylinders doesn't allow the cylinder to be
opened by a Bic Pen."
