We visit a variety of caves on Vancouver Island
We offer rope training sessions for members who have never used SRT gear
Yeah girl. We fly
I love holes, Meemer!
Caves are as black as my soul... I like that
Some things you'll need. These are the basic essentials for comfort!
They go on your feet
Gumboots or rainboots work the best for caving; boots with liners are not recommended as they are typically made of cotton and will not dry, thereby making you colder and closer to being dead.
They go on your hands
Rubber palmed gloves work the best. You want gloves that are comfortable when wet, that keep your hands warm(ish), and let you keep your tactile feeling. Great for not obtaining rope burn!
These get duct taped to your knees
If you like having unbruised and bendable knees post caving these are for you! Use whichever are the most comfortable and likely to stay in place during crawling; Volleyball style pads work great, or for ultimate protection, you can use mountain-bike style knee and shin pads.
These cover all y'all
The Club has various sizes available for $10 each which are available to purchase on all trips. If possible, try to remove or stitch closed outside pockets as they catch on rocks in caves and rip.
Wool/Fleece/Polyester/Nylon clothing is the best (e.g. "underarmour") as they're warm when wet and quick to dry. Please, for the caving god's sake, do not wear jeans or cotton during a caving trip. You will get cold and die.
Seriously guys... Wear wool socks. If you wear cotton the cave monsters will eat your soul.
You should probably bring these
Bring a change of clothes, towel, food (lunch, snacks, etc.), water, a garbage bag or similar to put wet and soiled clothing in. On your first trip of the year please bring $20 and this waiver. These two thing are essential to come on trips! Gas money (and food for longer trips) will be split between everyone and will vary depending on the distance travelled.
