UVic PEA Local Representatives Report

The UVic PEA Local Representatives Committee is made up of seventeen PEA Local Representatives who volunteered to represent the PEA in each area of the campus and an executive member who chairs the committee. These men and women are the front line of the PEA and are the first source of information about our Union and its activities for UVic PEA members.

Our Local Representatives help the PEA contact new staff members when they join the Association and contribute to membership records maintenance, they help in communicating with members, particularly during critical times of bargaining or strikes by other unions at UVic, they assist individuals with grievances or appeals and they play a watchdog role by helping the PEA to monitor contract violations. Local Representatives meet several times each year to share reports of activities and situations or to discuss issues involved in bargaining or other labour related matters.

The PEA and its members thank the people who volunteer as our Local Representatives. The are LeAnne Golinsky, Engineering Lab Wing & Office Wing; Ian Thornton, Cunningham; Charles Card, Elliott; John Hall, Petch; Inez St Dennis, MacLaurin; Anne Pappas, Cornett & Fraser; Pat Blonde, Human & Social Development; Simon Churchill, Library; Kevin Burns Clearihue; Richard Toogood, University Centre; Sheryl Karras, Business & Economics; Charles McQuade, Craigdarroch Commons & University Houses 1, 2 & 3; Sandra Guerreiro, Phoenix, Fine Arts & Visual Arts; Monica Reimer, Ian Stewart Complex & McKinnon; Katy Chan, Continuing Studies; Don Lovell, Saunders, Saunders Annex & Child Care and Katrina Pandak, Lower Mainland Campus.

At present the Sedgewick, Buildings and the Campus Services & Campus Security buildings are lacking local representatives and a volunteer from each of these areas is needed.
