Local Representatives Committee

The Local Representatives Committee http://web.uvic.ca/uvicpea/lrlist.htm is made up of more than twenty PEA Local Representatives who volunteer to represent the PEA in each area of the campus and an executive member who chairs the committee. These men and women are the front line of the PEA and are the first source of information about our Union and its activities for UVic PEA members.

Our Local Representatives help the PEA contact new staff members when they join the Association and contribute to membership records maintenance, they help in communicating with members, particularly during critical times of bargaining or strikes by other unions at UVic, they assist individuals with grievances or appeals and they play a watchdog role by helping the PEA to monitor contract violations.

This committee is established by our constitution which says:

ARTICLE 14: Local Representatives Committee

  1. The Local Representatives Committee consists of all Local Representatives, the assigned PEA Labour Relations Officer and a Chair elected by and from the Executive.
  2. Powers and Duties: The Local Representatives Committee will meet as called by the Chair or any three members and will serve as a communications link between and among members and the Executive.
