5. Chair's correspondence and remarks

51 Elections committee:

l No feedback has yet been received from elections committee as nominations close on June 17th

52 Chapter constitution changes for our AGM

l Changes around the timing of the election of convention delegates to the association convention were discussed. The proposed changes will help align the UVic Chapter's delegate election/selection processes with the timing constraints of the Association's convention preparations.

l Cliff will draft some language around the proposed schedule change

l Cliff suggested we review aspects of the UVic Constitution for potential amendments

54 Online Systems Group restrictions (Connors)

l Vincent discussed the restrictions around vacation for the UVOnline group during the Banner upgrade in 2010

6. Reports

        61 Treasurer (Connor):

· Vincent reported a FAST balance of $4681.08, and a Coast Capital Savings balance of $4716.91 at the end of May '09

· Vincent reported on the preparations towards the June 23rd Pond Party

        62 Labour Relations Officer (Gorrie):

· A/U agenda items were discussed

· Issues relating to benefits for post-65 employees were discussed

· Aspects of JE were discussed

                    631 Local Representatives (Gore):

· Moved that Jane Godfrey be appointed as a local representative for the Clearihue building (Connor/Foxgord) MSC

                    632 Seminars (Franz):

· The first seminar of the year 'Demystifying your PEA pension' drew 107 attendees

· The next event will be a 'Real estate and mortgage information' seminar

               641 Association/University Committee NTR Meeting June 18, 09

               642 Benefits Committee (Haman/Foxgord):

· Cliff reported that Extended Plan premiums will be increased by 4%, and the dental by 8%

· In an effort to reduce dispensing fees, an RFP was released to local pharmacies in an attempt to realize savings opportunities for UVic employees

               643 Job Evaluation Appeals Committee (Connor/Gore):

· Rebecca explained a complicated issue involving a JE appeal which prompted a lengthy discussion

               644 Employment Equity Advisory Working Group (Kenny):

               645 Educational Equity Advisory Group (Haman):

· Minutes for the May 21st '09 meeting were circulated

               646 Mental Health Committee - (Ozard): NTR
