    2. Strike Related Issues
      1. The committee discussed the logistics of people having to check-in at a campus site in the event of future job action by another union at the university. Concern was also expressed about how members will know when a picket line ends - what is considered reasonable. The Executive discussed the PEA office support of chapters new to strike situations and the completion of strike pay forms.

In response, Doug Hensby stated that the PEA has a policy on honouring picket lines - the strike pay is in place to allow our members to honour picket lines. He clarified if there is no picket line, then our members go to work. He also reinforced the message that our members don't have the right to leave their work site because another union has put a picket up in the middle of their work shift.

Logistics of a phone check-in were discussed as an alternative to checking-in in person on campus in the event of future job action by CUPE.

In response to the UVic PEA Executive's concerns about reaching the Staff Officer in a crisis, it was agreed that the PEA office would provide the staff officer with a cell phone.

      2. There will be a meeting December 21 with UVic Human Resources staff and representative from all 4 unions on campus. Forde noted he will be unable to attend the meeting because of other commitments. Concerns about fall-out from the strike affecting PEA members (i.e. having to make up lost lab time by offering double sessions) will be brought forward by the PEA representatives.
