Neither of the two UVic candidates were elected to the Provincial Executive. The new Provincial Executive has urged the involvement of the UVic Chapter through having a Chapter observer attend Provincial Executive meetings and nominating UVic members for Provincial Executive sub-committees.MOVED (Milner/Thornton) that the chapter executive recommends and endorses Tom Gore for consideration as a member at large on the PEA Provincial Executive Education Sub-committee and Policy Review Sub-committee. Six members of the Chapter attended the Provincial AGM on October 26, 1998 in Vancouver.5.3 Seminars Committee deferredFollowing the recent Provincial PEA election the table officers will be Tom Volkers, President; Ron Dumont, Vice-President; Linda Buker, Secretary; Rob Gordon, Treasurer and Kathryn Danchuck, Past President. Members at large are Boyd Brown, Brendan Holdan, Heather Knezevich and Martin Sills.
Executive members were appointed to the executive sub-committees and non-executive members will be sought for the Scholarship, Education, Grants and Donations and Policy Review Committees. Only 35% of eligible UVic voters cast ballots, and the election results in an executive that has 7 members from the largest bargaining unit and one each from the two smallest.
Both UVic resolutions to the AGM were passed. One thanked the Association for acting on proposals from UVic for electoral reform and the other called for a new corporate image for the PEA. Bids are presently being solicited from three designers.
As of the AGM, membership stands at 2322 with UVic at 355 (or 15% of the total). Association assets total $5,812,247 with an investment portfolio of $5,579,892 of which 17.3% is in equities and the balance is in bonds. The executive has hired an organizer to identify and bring new bargaining units into the Association.

We further suggest that an appropriate aid agency be found to ensure that these funds are used to the best effect on behalf of the workers of Honduras and Nicaragua.
