This page is a space to arrange shared travel and accommodation for the 2015 conference. The conference team will not make arrangements for delegates, but we will use this space to post names and e-mail addresses of people looking for roommates or carpools. If you are looking for a roommate, have space in your vehicle, or need a ride to Kelowna, please e-mail Amy at email@example.com with any necessary details (how many spaces do you have in your car? From where are you driving and when are you leaving?) and she will add your information to the lists below. It will be up to delegates to connect with each other and make their own arrangements.
We STRONGLY recommend taking into account road conditions on the Coquihalla pass between Vancouver and Kelowna, as this is a high mountain road and conditions can change very quickly. Transportation BC requires chains on this road until March 31st, so while the conference falls in the “official” spring season, roads could still be very bad and highway closures are a realistic possibility. You can monitor road conditions here. We remind all delegates that Kelowna does have an airport served by frequent flights from both Vancouver and Calgary.
With this in mind, the following delegates have expressed interest in carpooling:
- Gilles Weyns (from Vancouver): Gilles.Weyns[at]ugent.be
Those wishing to cut down on costs may wish to share a hotel room with another conference delegate. The following people have expressed interest. Please feel free to contact them at the e-mails listed below and make appropriate arrangements. Remember: our room block at the Manteo expires February 8th, after which you will not be eligible for the reduced conference rate.
