The article then describes the lives of Adams and Kincaid. Adams was a "little, blonde, twenty three year old woman". She left her husband and child in Nelson, BC for Victoria and Kincaid. Both Adams and Kincaid were American, she from Seattle and he from Kansas City, had only been in Victoria a few months prior to the murder. In the morning of 3 June 1898, Adams was informed that Kincaid planned to leave her. Therefore, she went back to his room at the Empire hotel to await his arrival. When he returned, she nearly severed his head. Before falling to his death, Kincaid was able to yell, "She's killed me-my God, she's killing me". Adams response to this was "I was mad to do it, but oh; I love you so". Later that night, when Adams was questioned at the police station, she confessed that she used his razor to saw through his jugular, half-severing his head from his body. The article concludes that Adams is being carefully watched, as they were worried she would take her own life.
