A Brief History of the
Pemberton Family:
Joseph Pemberton Jr.
Little is known about Joseph Pemberton Jr. His
sister recalls that he was a keen horseman (Sampson 124) and, while he
was a part of Pemberton & Son for a brief period (for he was
also a
gifted surveyor), he soon moved to Alberta where he got involved in the
ranching business.
Joseph Pemberton Jr. resided at Wilmot House, a large estate (though
not as large as Gonzales or Mt. Joy) situated
just north of Oak Bay Ave on what is now Wilmot Place. While
not
posessing his older brother's love of botany, Joseph maintained a very
impressive series of gardens himself.
