Stock Situations
Stock situations are recurring types of incidents or situations in narrative and
drama which have become conventional (or archetypal).
Examples are the hidden eavesdropper, the recognition by token
or birthmark, and the boy-meets-girl formula. (See also motif, stock characters.)
