General Rules For Citing Articles

Entries for articles in periodicals follow the format for books, with the following exceptions:

Place the title of the article within quotation marks. If the title has no concluding punctuation, end it with a period inside the quotation marks.
Underline the title of the periodical and do not use concluding punctuation. Omit "the," "a," or "an" at the beginning of the periodical title.
Give volume and issue numbers in arabic numerals. Separate these numbers by a period, but no intervening space.
Put the date of publication in parentheses, followed by a colon and the page numbers for the article. Close the entry with a period.
