The UVic Writer's Guide
Handling Contradictory Evidence
Oddly enough, an argument is often more convincing if you cheerfully
admit that there are some strong arguments or facts which seem
to counter the point you want to make. You present these arguments--fairly--in
such a way that you lead up to a resounding "however . . ." as
you deliver your counter-argument. And since you are in charge,
you will of course make sure that the defence has no right of
reply.
