An aubade is a song of the dawn, usually linked with the motif of waking
lovers and their reluctant parting. An example is John Donne's
"The Sun Rising" (1633), which begins this way:
Busy old fool, unruly sun,
Why dost thou thus,
Through windows and through curtains call on us?
Must to thy motions lovers' seasons run?
