Women's Studies Reading Room in Clearihue B115 offers a space for Women's Studies students to read, study and to meet. It has a library of materials that are available for students to use on site.
The Victoria Women's Movement Archives opened in September 1995 and is part of the University Archives. The Victoria Women's Movement Archives "was established in order to preserve and provide access to important material documenting the history of women's movement groups in Victoria."
The UVSS Women's Centre is located in the Student Union Building and offers meeting space for women students, support, reference materials and events and activities. The Women's Centre is a student-run collective and welcomes student involvement. Phone: (250) 721-8353.
thirdspace "is a student feminist newspaper produced through the Student Society Women's Centre, at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. We publish a minimum of four times a year (more depending on resources). We welcome anyone from everywhere to volunteer and/ or contribute writing and artwork for publication." Access UVic is a constituency organization for UVic students with a disability. The Society actively promotes physical and attitudinal accessibility and the elimination of able-ism at UVic. Its works towards providing a safe and supportive environment and coordinates activities and events intended to raise awareness about disability issues, such as Annual Disability Awareness Day. Access UVic welcomes and encourages anyone who wants to play a positive role in the organization. Access UVic maintains a list serve to keep active members and supporters up to date on activities and to encourage discussion. Anti-Violence Project: Support and Action Against Sexualized Violence and Abuse - AVP "is committed to the support and empowerment of women and men within the University community who are survivors of sexual assault and/or sexual abuse and their supporters. The Ombudsperson "is available to provide assistance to students who feel they are being unfairly treated within the university system." Consultations are confidential. The Ombudsperson can help students identify their options for resolving difficulties and may investigate complex
situations. Problems commonly dealt with by the Ombudsperson include:

* Academic concessions
* Grade appeals
* Admission and re-registration appeals
* Housing difficulties
* Accusations of cheating and plagiarism
* Requirements to withdraw

VIPIRG - Vancouver Island Public Interest Group is "a non-profit organization dedicated to research, education, advocacy, and action in the public interest. Located in the Student Union Building of the University of Victoria, VIPIRG is the ideal place for students and volunteers who wish to work on social justice or environmental issues on campus, or at the community level." Safewalk Program is provided through Campus Security Services and is "available to members of the University Community. The service is provided from building to building, building to vehicle, and vice versa within the boundaries of the campus." There is no cost for this service, and no questions asked. Several pay phones on campus are equipped with "safewalk" buttons for direct connection, or call 721-7599 (Campus Security Services).

Victoria Status of Women Action Group "promotes social, economic and political self-determination and freedom for all women. We do this work because women are oppressed on the basis of their sex, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, class, sexual orientation, ability, age, education and geographical location, among many other forms of discrimination. Anti-dote: Multi-racial Girls' & Women's Network "is aimed at developing the capacity of racialised girls and women living in Victoria and surrounding communities to engage in social change activities intended to reduce their marginalization and unequal treatment. The central and overarching methods and principles for Anti-dote consist of: community development; Participatory Action Research; engaged "learning-by-doing" models of action; peer to peer, youth-led initiatives; and self-empowerment and mentorship among racialised girls and women." Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria "encourages sensitivity, appreciation and respect for individuals of all cultures in our changing community; assists newcomers to settle in the Greater Victoria area and facilitates their inclusion and full participation in the community." Victoria Native Friendship Centre has a mandate to "meet the needs of Native people in the Greater Victoria area by providing them with services and information designed to enhance traditional values and cultures of the Native Peoples." Victoria Women's Sexual Assault Centre "provides crisis intervention, justice related support services and counselling programs for those affected by sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse." The centre is located at #2 - 941 Pandora Avenue. Office phone: (250) 383-5545, CRISIS LINE: 383-3232.
Women of Our People Society "is a sexual assault centre specifically for Aboriginal Women. The Society provides court accompaniment, courtroom tours and emotional and informational support to Aboriginal support. Three are also Healing Circles in the Victoria area. The Society also promotes safety for first nation women and families from sexual, emotional and physical assault. Information is also available on sexual and fetal health." Victoria Women's Transition House provides short term residency, shelter and counselling for women and children leaving abusive relationships. It also provides counselling services for women and children in the community who are not in residence at the shelter, and has a speakers bureau for community education regarding violence against women and children. Women's Emergency Shelter - Sandy Merriman House "serves women who are homeless, have concurrent disorders, and/or are active in the sex trade. It is unique in that it is not a transition house, and does not have the usual mandate to serve only clients who are leaving abusive relationships and not using drugs or alcohol. In 2002, SMH's occupancy rate has averaged 95%; it has served 3,768 meals, and provided services to 4,117 drop-in clients." Located at 809 Burdett Street. Phone: (250) 381-2847.
Island Sexual Health Society is "More than just birth control. At Island Sexual Health Society, we offer sexual health clinics and sex education programs in Greater Victoria, BC. We also have lots of online sexual health information that you can read! All our services are confidential."
