Fifth International Symposium

on Physiological Processes

in Roots of Woody Plants

Major objectives of the symposium were:

  1. to present the latest advances in physiology and ecology of root systems of woody plants

  2. to better assess the impacts of environmental disturbance on root physiological processes and the effects on whole plant function

  3. to address the integrative nature of root system research through collaboration between anatomists, ecologists, mycorrhizal researchers, tree physiologists, tree molecular biologists and rhizosphere microbiologists

  4. to identify priorities for future research in below ground woody plant biology.
