Loel Horvey
Loel worked as an undergraduate summer student in our group in 2006. He joined in from Queen's University in Kingston and held a prestigious NSERC Undergraduate Summer Research scholarship. Loel worked on the study of the adsorption of small organic molecules on single crystalline gold surface. He used mainly electrochemical tools, cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy, to explore the adsorption behaviour of cysteine, cysteamine and mercaptopropionic acid on a Au(111) surface. His data confirmed the existence of a protonation /deprotonation step prior to the desorption of the molecules at cathodic potentials.
