Mohammad Pourhoussein
Mohammad joined us as a visiting student from the Isfaham University in Iran. His project was related to the application of surface plasmon resonance to the analysis of metal ions. His research was the first step of a collaboration that we initiated with Dr. Jay Cullen from the School of Earth Sciences, who is interested in the speciation of metal ions in sea water. Mohammad developed a new flow cell for our SPR system, prepared gold substrates for SPR sensing and setup the SPR instrumentation. He obtained some preliminary results of metal ions determination in diluted solution by immobilizing specific ligands to the gold surface. Mohammad is now back to Iran, where he holds a faculty position.
