Objectives:
- Acquire knowledge of Classical history, culture, and archaeology
- Investigate topography and landscapes
- Apply knowledge of Greek civilization to material remains
- Understand problems of cultural resources and management
- Experience life in a European country and modern Turkey

The course provides:
- experiential learning
- on-site lectures and reports
- deeper understanding of modern and ancient Greece

- Estimated program fee is $3600 for ground/sea transportation, hotel accommodation, and breakfast from May 1-26. Travel to and from Greece is not included. Tuition is separate also.
- It is the responsibility of each student to make his/her own flight plans. Students should be ready to start the program May 1, 2012 in Greece.
- Lunch/dinner and pocket expenses are extra. Some financial assistance may be possible from the Dept. of Greek and Roman Studies and UVic's Office of International Affairs.

Participants normally enroll in GRS 395
Classical Studies Abroad
(3 units, tuition fees separate)

Course requirements include on-site presentation, participation, 3 quizzes, and one research paper.

Overseas medical insurance is mandatory. All chronic health problems should be made known to the instructor.
The program will be physically and emotionally challenging. Participation is up to the discretion of professor in charge
