Beck Trust Student Research Travel Award to Iceland
Call for Applications
One award of $2,000 for travel to Iceland for research or study purposes is available per calendar year.
Students registered in undergraduate or graduate programs in the Humanities or Social Sciences or Fine Arts who have already completed a course that is related to Icelandic language, literature, history, culture or society or who have undertaken a research program in one of these areas are invited to submit their application to the Associate Dean of Humanities, Office of the Dean of Humanities (Clearihue C305) by December 15, 2011. The purpose of the award is to allow students to pursue further courses or research in Iceland. Consideration will be given both to students’ academic standing and to the importance of the travel to their program of study.
Applications must include:
- a curricum vitae
- unofficial transcripts
- a statement of no more than 500 words describing the course(s) or research to be pursued in Iceland and their value to the student’s program
- a letter of support from the appropriate instructor or supervisor of the student
The applications will be assessed by the Advisory Committee to the Associate Dean of Humanities. The name of the successful candidate will normally be announced by the end of January.
