Immunohistological
staining of an adult mouse retinal cross section. Rod bipolar cells are
labeled red (protein kinase C - alpha immunostaining); ON bipolar cells are
labeled blue (mGluR6:nuclear localized beta-galactosidase); bipolar cells and
MŸller glia are labeled green (Chx10 immunostaining). Note the
co-localization of PKC - alpha, Chx10 and beta-galactosidase in rod bipolar
cells (whitish/grey cell bodies). ON cone bipolar cells labeled with
beta-galactosidase (blue) colocalize with Chx10 (green) and appear as cyan.
Cells with only Chx10 appear green and label either OFF bipolar cells or
MŸller glia.
