Guest Lecture

Dr. Martha Kaiser
Yale Child Study Centre

Date: June 21st
Time: 4:30 PM
Location: TBA

In this lecture, Dr. Martha Kaiser will discuss recent research, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to study how children with autism understand the "social world". Her studies examine how children with autism perceive visual (e.g., body language) and tactile (e.g., gentle touch) social cues, with the goal of informing our understanding of the brain basis of autism.

Face Camp

Are you ready for this summer's Face Camp? University of Victoria psychologist Dr. Jim Tanaka is seeking children ages 5-12 to participate in a research project examining children's face recognition. Campers will learn about the scientific principles of face recognition through creative hands-on activities, exercises in computer face morphing and psychology laboratory experiments. Campers will also demo new computer games currently being developed in our research lab.

Face Camp is a FREE, fun, and educational camp for children of all abilities, including those with special needs. Face Camp volunteers are composed of UVIC faculty, students, and community professionals. A FREE pizza lunch and snacks will be provided.
AND campers will receive a cool Face Camp T-shirt!
