Geothermobarometry

The partitioning of elements betweens minerals and melts is also used to derive geothermometers and barometers to extract P-T information from rocks.

In collaboration with L. Coogan, we are exploring the partitioning of trace elements to derive geobarometers and geothermometers for mantle-derived spinel peridotites that have different 'closure' temperatures and thus record thermal history of the mantle they sample.
