The 2007 Annual General Meeting was held in the Clubhouse at Cedar Hill Golf Course once again this year. The evening featured a cocktail hour followed by a buffet meal and the AGM business program. Highlighting the evening was the presentation of the Vancouver Island Award to Professor Walter Balfour (FCIC) for his lifelong contributions to chemistry. Walter was recognized for his distinguished research career, his outstanding teaching record and for his strong support of community outreach programs such as Scientists in the Schools. Walter recently retired from the University of Victoria Chemistry Department after nearly 40 years of service.
