NB: In order to take Chem 101, you must be registered in both, a lecture section and a lab section.
Laboratory credit may be allowed for students who have successfully completed the laboratory within the past three years. Credit is provided for only one subsequent attempt. Students applying for laboratory credit from previous years must email the First Year Senior Lab Instructor, Monica Reimer, giving their studnet number(s), the term and year when the course was perviously taken and request laboratory credit from the previous year. If past lab credit is denied, the student must immediately register in a lab section.

Lab write-up due dates:
For Wednesday labs, 11:00am, the Monday following the performance of the experiment.
For Thursday labs, 11:00am, the Tuesday following the performance of the experiment.
No reports that are due will be accepted after 3:30 p.m. on the 6th day following the laboratory period in which the experiment was carrried out.

Student Evaluation:
Student performance is assessed continuously on the basis of: pre-lab quizzes, quality of personal and technical performance in the laboratory and quality of laboratory reports. There will also be assessments of practical skills, notebook documentation and preparedness.
A passing mark (50%) must be attained in the laboratory and 70% of the experiments must be completed and graded in order to pass the lab. The laboratory component will contribute 33% to the course mark.
