The English Graduate Students’ Society (EGSS):
The EGSS is a student-run society that operates on behalf of all graduate students in the English department. Our purpose is to maintain and improve all aspects of academic, professional, and social life for English graduate students at UVic. We meet once a month to discuss and debate current issues in the department and to organize events for students.
President:
The president is the PhD representative for the EGSS. The president is in charge of keeping up on PhD issues in the English department and s/he represents the EGSS at department meetings. The current president is Michael Lukkas.
Vice President:
The vice president is the MA representative for the EGSS. The vice president keeps up generally with MA graduate student issues and attends the GSS meetings on behalf of the English graduate student body. The current vice-president is Leah Ellingwood.
Secretary:
The secretary organizes the EGSS; s/he is in charge of organizing and running EGSS meetings and recording all decisions made by the EGSS. The current secretary is KC Hingley.
Registrar:
The registrar is elected in September and becomes the secretary in January. In effect, the registrar assists the secretary and learns how to run the EGSS.
