Professional Committee

The Professional Committee is concerned with academic life outside of the classroom. The primary undertaking by the Professional Committee is to organize the annual English Graduate Student Conference that occurs at the University of Victoria each year. The opportunity to be involved with conference planning, organizing, and chairing at the graduate student level is both beneficial and engaging, facilitated through this committee of the EGSS. This year’s conference, “Curious, if True”: The Fantastic in Literature, brings together presenters from across North America to discuss the versatility of this genre of literature (visit the conference website here: http://uvicfantasticinlit.blogspot.com/). The conference theme changes from year to year, depending on the interests of the Professional Committee, and provides an exciting opportunity to organize and engage with conference planning.
