Research Statement:

Dr. Dosso’s research interests center on ocean acoustic and geophysical inverse problems, including both theoretical developments and practical applications in the following areas of focus. Geoacoustic inversion: Inferring seabed geophysical properties from ocean acoustic data such as full-field measurements, seabed reflectivity, ambient noise, acoustic reverberation, and seismo-acoustic dispersion. This involves developing efficient hybrid and Bayesian formulations for optimal parameter estimation and uncertainty analysis in nonlinear inverse problems. Acoustic localization and positioning: Including matched-field source localization with environmental uncertainty, and regularized ray-based inversion techniques for applications such as array element localization. Sea-ice acoustics: Studying ice-mounted geophones as Arctic acoustic sensors; analysis of ice-generated ambient noise and visco-elastic properties of sea ice. Other areas of interest include seismic tomography, marine seismology, and earthquake hazard assessment.
