EUCE Consortium with the University of Toronto

In 2009, the University of Toronto and the University of Victoria received a joint 3 year grant through the European Commission to estalish this new Centre of Excellence. Based on the intellectual strengths of Canada's leading universities for the study of the European Union and a track-record of excellence in teaching and research, the UofT/UVic EUCE Consortium, under the co-directorships of Professor Jeffrey Kopstein (UofT) and Professor Emmanuel Brunet-Jailly (UVic), are now host to an exciting program of public outreach, educational, and research activities. These activities are designed to deepen the understanding of European integration in Canada both within and outside of the academy, and showcase EU-Canada relations.

Our research, outreach, and teaching focuses on three broad areas:

  • The financial crisis, EMU, the stability of currencies, and the financial system
  • Immigration and citizenship
  • EU borders, neighbourhoods, and foreign policy
