The GSS provides plenty of services to its valued members. These include, and are not limited to:

•  extended health and dental plans for grad students and their families. (Distance students can opt in at the family rate).
•  With FGS we jointly fund travel grants for grad students going to conferences
• free handbooks (daytimers)
• great food at excellent prices at the Grad House
• new student orientation events
• social events and department grants for departmental events
• the Unacknowledged Source is your quarterly magazine
• free room bookings for grad student events, meetings and study
• informational events specifically for grad students (past events have included: thesis completion tips, research ethics application “how to”, Canadian taxes for international students)
• the GSS supports SPOKES bicycle program
• the universal bus pass was established through a referendum of the GSS

Other student services

International student identity card (ISIC)

The International Student Identity Card ISIC is an internationally recognized form of student ID. The card qualifies students for discounts at hotels, museums, historical sights and entertainment attractions in over 70 countries worldwide. Discounts are available on domestic air travel and 40% discounts on VIA Rail. ISIC cards are sold at the SUB Info Booth and in both Travel Cuts locations (in the SUB and downtown).
