Lesson 17/18

1. I share a house with three other students. The rent is not very high, but we have to pay for the heat and the utilities.

2. Our house has two bathrooms and three bedrooms, a den, and a living room but it has no dining room. We eat in the kitchen.

3. Pierina wants to rent (out) her apartment in town. It has a washing machine, a clothes dryer and a dishwasher.

4. I need new furniture: a sofa and armchair, a rug for the bedroom, a bookshelf and lamp for the study and a bigger closet for the bedroom.

5. My chest of drawers is bigger than my bed... I have more furniture than clothes!

6. - This vacuum cleaner works better than the other one. It cost more than $400.
    - You have more appliances than rooms, Gianna!

7. - This apartment is better than your house: it is bigger, it has more light and it costs less than your house. I suggest that you rent it!
    - No, I don't want to commute!

8. - Does Pavarotti sing better or worse than Carreras?
    - I think Pavarotti sings as well as Carreras!

9. We have higher ceilings than you (pl.) but our floors are as beautiful as yours.

10. I dance well but Manuele dances better. He is also a better soccer player. In fact, he is the best soccer player of the team!
