Research Collective
(Hélène Cazes, Department of French, Patricia Clark, Greek and Roman
Studies, Anne-France Morand, CSRS)
The UVic History of Medicine research collective is interdisciplinary and
interdepartmental.
The objectives of the History of Medicine collective are the following: to
coordinate existing work at UVic in History of Medicine in both teaching and
research, and to develop the courses in the field; to continue organizing a
regular work-in-progress seminar for graduate students and faculty to which
it will be possible to invite outside scholars; to organize regular events,
such as public talks, conferences, and thematic workshops; to work with the
library and faculty to coordinate library acquisitions in History in
Medicine (including the completion of currently incomplete sets); to develop
contacts between existing faculties and the new Island Medical Program at
UVic. A workshop/conference on the theme "Mirrors of Melancholy" is being planned for 3-5 October 2007.
