Sherlock Holmes Cases

There are many inconsistencies and unintentional mysteries in the Holmes canon. The first time I read through the stories, I didn't really notice, because I was caught up in mysteries. As time went on though, I found myself wondering which adventure came before which, and which cases Watson mentions that actually get written up later. I was wondering how many other people found this chronology intriguing, thus the questionnaire.

I generally read some Sherlock Holmes:

I don't reread books.

I find the problems in the chronology:

Interesting/intriguing.
Confusing.
I have made/am making my own chronology.
I hadn't noticed.

I feel that the chronology problems and inconsistencies:

Detract from my enjoyment of the books.
Add to the charm of the books.
Make no difference.
