Content

  • How well did the site solve the user's problem?
  • Coverage of topics
  • Clarity of organization
  • Clarity of sentences
  • Appropriate tone
  • Copy Editing
OK

The clarity is good for the most part, in the table under cases>chonological Holmes some of the dates are out of order.

The tone is good for the site.

Yes, I know I need to reorganize that table.

Navigation

  • Reader gets lost or is unsure
  • Main menu every page
  • Broken links

OK Very clear navigation, always knew where I was. Only broken link was Holmes' England. (haven't made Holmes' England page yet)

Design

  • Layout clean or cluttered
  • Adequate white space (lists, paragraphs)
  • Font choice
  • Color Choice
  • Graphics communicate?
  • Graphics load time on dialup connection

OK

Font is good, sometimes there seems to be too much text at once. Maybe divide it up a bit.

Not many graphics, but they all loaded. I like how they look old, to fit with the old book and parchment idea.

Ask the Tester: How many more times would you visit this site: Once? Twice? More than twice? ______more than twice
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate this site? ______8.5
What part of the site would you rate highest?" The chonological Holmes thing is so interesting, and will be a great source, when the dates are in the right order.
What part of this site would you rate lowest? The homepage needs something more on it than just text.

Observations

I like the book theme!

Accuracy of my design assumptions for entire site (1 to 10 scale)

Rank the three most successful site components

1. The book theme, from the scan I did (colours, top banner, etc)

2. The navigation bars.

3. The Chronological Holmes table. I wanted one like that when I first read the books, and now it is out there for other people.

Rank the three least successful site components

1. The giant wall of text that you see on each page.

2. The front page (not the book scan) is very uninteresting.

3. Text on the far right is hard to read, because the background gets darker.

Designer Observations

I need more pictures, I want an image map on the front page, and a rollover picture probably in the characters page. I really like my background, but I'm wondering if the stripes are distracting.
