Arrival

Airport

Victoria Airport is situated quite far from the University and even Victoria for that matter. If you decide to fly in to Victoria, you can take a public transit bus (Bus # 75: Downtown), a private shuttle bus (AKAL Airporter), or a taxi to get to the University or your new home. The public transit bus will take you downtown from where you will have to connect to another bus. The public transit fares are about $3 per trip. The AKAL Airporter will drop you off only at certain drop-off points like the University or certain malls, and will cost about $20. A taxi will cost about $45 to get to the city.

Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal

The Swartz Bay Ferry terminal is again located really far from Victoria city and the University. You have two options to get from the Ferry terminal to the city. You can either take a public transit bus (Bus #70: Downtown) or a taxi. The bus will take you downtown from where you might have to transfer to another bus and will cost you about $4 per trip. The taxi will cost about $55 to get to the city.

Note: For first time arrivals, we suggest taking a taxi even though it is expensive, as it is easier to manage all your luggage, it will drop you right to your door, and it is better than getting lost in a city you are not familiar with. Also, sometimes the bus drivers will not let you ride the bus if you have too much luggage.

Pickup

If you let us know the exact date, time, location of your arrival in Victoria, and how many bags you have, we could try and arrange for someone to pick you up. We DO NOT guarantee a pickup as it depends on whether we are able to find anyone with a car who is free at that time and who is willing to help out. But we are willing to give it a try.
