Hello. Welcome to my page.
" Neuroscientist and computer man " I have a degree in Neuroscience from the University of Lethbridge. While there I worked in the lab of Dr. Robert Sutherland. I moved to Victoria in 2007. I am currently working on attaining a Masters in computer science under Dr Yvonne Coady and Dr Alex Thomo. My main research area is classifying electroencephalograph (EEG) signals, more specifically for interpreting EEG signals for keyboard and mouse interaction. I have been learning how to use artificial neural networks, specifically a reservoir computing method called a Liquid State Machine(LSM). More on that here. Recent activities also include getting involved in the local Makers group and working on the set up of a sea steading project.
My interests in general are:
- Neuroscience: The brain fascinates me on many different levels. The brain processes a huge amount of data. It's complexity generated in some sort of fractal like manner from a relatively small amount of "code ". So many pathways and systems to be analyzed. Brain Computer Interfaces(BCI) are of great interest to me and I have started to build a simple one. Computer Science The Singularity The Ocean amazes me. Evolution Mountain Biking: Once upon a time I enjoyed this nearly every day, but now I live in a city :( Jogging
One of the many projects that I am working on is an Optogenetic Brain Computer Interface. OBCI
