Welcome to the UVic Seabird & Marbled Murrelet Group

Sometimes known as the UVic Institute of Brachyramphology ... or the folks who work with Alan Burger

We conduct research on seabirds, primarily the Threatened Marbled Murrelet (Brachyramphus marmoratus), and provide input into the conservation and management of these birds. Our goal is to understand some of the complex biological and physical processes that affect seabirds. We work mainly on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, but occasionally we sneak off to study birds in places like Haida Gwaii, the Seychelles and the Antarctic.
