Options for Ordering textbooks
á Fax:
Orders may be faxed to the
University of Victoria Bookstore at (250) 472-4588, and must include required credit card information.
á In
Person: No pre-ordering is
necessary. Materials will be available in a separate Distance Education section
at the end of the English section. Bookstore hours are: Monday to Friday, 8:30
a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Please include payment for
course materials and
postage charges, and mail the order form to: University of Victoria Bookstore,
PO Box 2200 STN CSC, Victoria, BC, V8W 3H6.
Orders are payable by Visa, MasterCard, or
American Express. Please fill in the appropriate spaces on the order form.
Failure to include the expiry date and the complete credit card number will
result in an inability to process your order. Cheques or money orders (do not
send cash) should be made payable to the University of Victoria Bookstore. Used
books can only be purchased by credit card.
The Bookstore will process your order upon receipt,
but cannot mail out your course materials until they have been received by the
Bookstore to send out. Please allow 10 days for your order to be processed. Materials will be shipped as soon as
possible after the Bookstore receives your order accompanied by payment
(cheque, money order, or validated credit card transaction).
Textbook Return Policy: Textbooks, in mint condition, accompanied by the
original register receipt, will be accepted for refund by the University of
Victoria Bookstore if they are returned before September 21 for First Term and
Full Year courses, and January 23 for Spring Term courses. For Summer and
Intersession courses, return dates will be posted at the Textbook Information
Counter. Students who have dropped or changed courses will have return
privileges extended as follows: First Term and Full Year coursesÑOctober 31;
Second Term coursesÑFebruary 28; Summer and Intersession coursesÑthe dates will
be posted at the Textbook Information Counter. The general refund policy will
apply for textbooks purchased after September 21 for First Term and Full Year
courses, and January 23 for Spring Term courses. This excludes textbooks
purchased during pre-exam and exam periods (December 1-21, April 1-26) which
are non-returnable. The WriterÕs Guide cannot be returned for refund, and a coursepack
cannot be returned once the package has been opened.
IMPORTANT: Receipt of your books or having paid tuition fees does
not mean you are registered.
You must register in
order to receive credit in any course. Registration is done either by using the
telephone registration or web registration system at UVic.
All About Used Books for
Distance Education Students

In an effort to improve our service to students, we are now offering used books to students in Distance Education courses. We are also offering to buy back used books from Distance students either in person or via mail. Please read the information below for details.
1. The supply of used books fluctuates so we
cannot guarantee that there will be used books available at all times.
2. Used books are sold at 25% off the new
price of the book and are GST exempt.
3. We can only accept orders for used books
that are paid for by credit card.
4. Book orders will be filled in the order in
which they are received. When
no used books are available, you will be supplied with a new book and charged
accordingly.
5. Used books are sold Ôas is.Õ As they have been previously owned,
used books may contain highlighting, underlining, notes and other marks.
6. If you prefer to order new books only,
please indicate this on your book order form.
1. Buyback refers to the Bookstore purchasing
used books from students in order to offer them to other students at a lower
price than new texts.
2. Buyback (for students who have to MAIL
their books back) will occur from April 1st to July 31st
only. Books for buyback must be received
by the Bookstore before July 31st.
3. Alternatively, students who walk in to the Bookstore will be able to sell back
books that are on the buyback list without pre-authorization.
Students are paid in cash. Buyback
occurs between 9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. on weekdays and between 11:00 A.M. and
4:00 P.M. on Saturdays. The
buyback period is from April-September for walk in students.
4. We purchase only those books that the
departments have indicated will be used again in the next couple of terms.
5. Manuals, course packages, videotapes, audiotapes
and readings are not bought back by the Bookstore.
6. Books to be mailed back from Distance
students will only be accepted if they are pre-authorized (see attached sheet).
7. Unauthorized books will be returned at your
expense.
8. Used books are purchased from students at
50% of the new price of the book.
9. Books that will not be used again have no
value and will not be bought back.
10. Exercise books and study guides are not
accepted for buyback if the answers have been filled in.
11. To avoid damage in transit, please securely
package the books (preferably using a padded envelope).
12. Books received in damaged condition will be
returned at your expense.
13. The Bookstore is not responsible for books
lost in transit.
14. Books are accepted for buyback with highlighting, underlining,
notes and other marks.
15. Cheques will by
issued by the University and mailed to you for any pre-authorized books the
Bookstore buys back by mail.
Processing will take approximately eight weeks.

this form for any books (textbooks only) that you wish to sell back to the Bookstore. When it is completed, please use one of
the methods below to send it to us between March 15th and July 1st.

We will contact
you and let you know which books we will accept for buyback. Used books for Distance Education
courses are only bought back between April 1st and July 31st.
This is the only buyback period for Distance Education courses for all
terms. NO EXCEPTIONS. Books must reach us before July 31st, so please ship accordingly.
You will be given
an authorization number
when your books are approved. This
number must appear on the outside of your book return package. Books that are sent without
authorization will not be accepted and will be returned at your expense. DO NOT SEND BOOKS UNLESS THEY ARE
