Monarchs and Plays

Unfortunately, Shakespeare didn't write the plays in the order of kings' reigns. Nor did the names of the kings follow a reasonable pattern. Especially during the period of unrest known as the "war of the roses," the relationships between the various claimants to the throne were complex. Here is a simplified family tree.
