Letter: Syria's stalemate

Andrew Wender had a letter to the editor in last Thursday's Globe and Mail in response to a May 15 article on Syria's "sectarian stalemate." He writes that the "tragedy of Syria is deepened by the fact that Shia Iran finds it necessary to use Syrian lives for strategic gain, much as does Iran's collective geo-political adversary..."

First Nations seek to reclaim Mount Douglas, restore original name

Next week, First Nations will march to the summit of Mount Douglas and reclaim the area by symbolically restoring its historical name to PKOLS (pronounced p’cawls), translated as white rock. Veteran political observer and UVIC professor emeritus Norman Ruff commented for the Vancouver Sun on fizzled hopes of the BC Tories, but also told the Times Colonist the election results were "astonishing."
