Volunteer Research Assistant Opportunity:
Sumin Na: 2nd year master's student, Clinical psychology, Dr. Chris Lalonde
Research category: Cultural psychology with a focus on identity development
Job Description: I'm looking for students to help out transcribing
interviews that I've completed for my project. Students who wish to
volunteer will be transcribing interviews that are about 20-30 minutes
each. Hours are flexible and students can take the work home.
Job Type: Volunteer
Applicable skills: If you are a fast typer, it's definitely an asset!
Job Requirements:
- Students who will commit at least 3hrs/week until mid/late April.
Job Benefits:
- Great way to get some research experience
- I will also be more than happy to talk about questions students might
have about doing research or graduate school

We are holding a bake sale to support "Team Niehaus" in the Autism Awareness walk. Come out and buy something to support Autism Awareness, or to the walk on April 15th.
Also, PsychOS would like to thank the anonymous donor who donated to assist students with lesser means with the registration fee for the Autism Walk.
PsychOS is also holding a "Capture the Freud" game against the Sociology undergraduate course union (BOSS), so help us crush the sociologists on March 23 at 4:30 on the Quad.
On February 6th, UVic Psi Chi will be presenting Taught, a series of talks by professors about their areas of expertise. More information can be found on the Psi Chi

There is an honour information session on February 7th, if you are at all interested in doing honours, come out and check out what you can do.
We will also be selling psychology clothing again, you can place your clothing orders with us in the psychology office from February 20th-24th from 10am-4pm.
Come support The Ride for the Cure by coming out to our Spring Formal. It is on February 24th at Upstairs, tickets are $10 and come with a free drink. They will also be on sale from February 20th-24th from 10am-4pm in the psychology office.
UVic Psi Chi and PsychOS are planning a volunteer fair on February 21st. It will be from 1-4pm in the Michele Pujol room in the SUB. If you are looking for new opportunities in psychology, feel free to check out some of the positions that are open.

We now have psychology clothing, we are selling t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants.
The due date for order forms is going to be November 19
th. You can
order it at the psychology office at Cornett A171.
We are also planning a bar night on November 19
th it will
be a 80's Rock theme.
We would also like to support our Vikes Girls Rugby team, of which two executives, Jessica Moretto and
Jesse Olynyk are a part of. Their upcoming games should be updated on our events page regularly.
Thanks for a great turnout for the Tight and Bright Pub Crawl.
Hope you guys all had a great time, thank you to all the people
who helped out with the jobs. The photos from the pub crawl should
be up on facebook now, thanks to Samantha Thom for being a great photographer.
We are holding a pub crawl on September 23, the theme will
be "Tight and Bright", and we will be going first to
Sopranos, then Metropolis night club, and ending at
Touch lounge. It will start at 7pm, tickets are $15
dollars, and come with 2 free drinks and a treat bag.
Welcome back from your summer vacations, I hope you all
had a great break!
We hope to have lots of new additions to the club this
year and are planning lots of new activities.
We also have some new executives this year, so lets
congratulate Marie and Megan as our new co-presidents,
Kahlil as the new vice-president, Terry as the Psi Chi
liason, John and Derek as directors at large, Claire as
the treasurer, Jesse as director of communications,
Zoe as director of advertising, Dr. Jeffery Niehaus as
our faculty mentor, and I'm Ryan, your glorious webmaster.
If you are not yet a member of PsychOS, we meet in at
2:30pm on Wednesday, in Cornett B145. Our first meeting
will be held on
September 14th, 2011. You do not have to be a
psychology major in order to come to the meetings, so
come out and meet our members and see what we're all
about. You can
also see us in the PsychOS/Psi Chi office in Cornett 171.
We are also busy trying to set up events for the school
year. In addition to the pub crawls, this year we want
to have
some other events that the first year students can go
to. If you have any ideas about what we could do this
