Michael Cullen

Michael Cullen has, among other degrees, a Diploma in Journalism from Mount Royal College. He has written for numerous newspapers and magazines including The Calgary Herald, the London Free Press, Take One Magazine, and Monday Magazine. Recent editorial stints include "Kick the Nic" for the Ministry of Health and The Implications of Delgamuukw for the Assembly of First Nations. Writing texts include Communication Within Aboriginal Organizations and The MBA Writing Module: A Study Guide.

Cullen is the author of a number of novels (Goodnight, Sammy Wong, A Brief History of the Farmer's Daughter), plays (The Theory of the Big Bang, The Art of Hanging), and screenplays (OK Lullaby, The Knife). He has received the Norma Epstein National Writing Award from the University of Toronto and is a recent winner of both the duMaurier National Playwriting Competition and the Praxis National Screenwriting Competition. His writing has been anthologized in Dancing Visions and In the Clear: An Anthology of Canadian Writing. Cullen is an active member of ACTRA and The Writers Guild of Canada.
