TEACHING

EOS 202 – Structural Geology

The course introduces the formation processes and mechanisms of various geological structures in both brittle and ductile regimes. It also covers geometric and kinematic analyses of these structures at different scales. The freely accessible online text (https://psgt.earth.lsa.umich.edu) is used as the foundational text. The lab component is focused on analysis and interpretation of structural data and geological maps. The course includes a half-day field trip in southern Vancouver Island where students collect and analyse structural data from the outcrops.

EOS 300 – Earth Science Field School

This is a two-week course on and around Vancouver Island, during which students learn and practise fundamental skills in the geological fieldwork, including mapping, traversing, constructing stratigraphic logs, and field note-taking. An overview of the regional geology and tectonics of Vancouver Island will be introduced.
